Forensic Service Development: Modern Themes and Challenges

Dear Colleagues and Friends

Due to ongoing challenges regarding the COVID-19 situation, the scientific committee of NSFPI has decided to postpone the symposium by a year, to 24.-26.8.2022. The venue will be the same and submitted abstracts shall be automatically considered.

It is a great pleasure to welcome you all to the 14th Nordic Symposium on Forensic Psychiatry. The timely theme for 2022 is “Forensic service development: modern themes and challenges”. We aim to tackle the challenges and developmental scenarios of our field not only with our Nordic and international colleagues in forensic psychiatry, but –in true multidisciplinary fashion- with professionals in law, psychology, social science and criminology.

Despite the challenges the world currently faces we feel it is as crucial as ever to dedicate time for reflection with colleagues and stakeholders if we are to further develop the evidence – and ethics-base of our specialist services. This biannual symposium has for almost three decades provided such a platform and now – for the first time – in Helsinki, Finland.

On behalf of the organizing scientific committee and Helsinki University Hospital I wish you all an inspiring symposium and a great time in Finland’s summery capital!
